Title : Karlyapilyirra
Size/Medium : 900 x 600mm: acrylic on canvas Painting
Dulcie has painted Karlyapilyirra a site close to Pipaar, South of Balgo in the Great Sandy Desert. The white swirling lines are the saltpans, surrounded by sandhills that shift with the seasons. The pink dotting is a sweet bushflower that grows in the lake area. The yellow and orange dotting indicate the different ochres found here that people use for painting themselves at ceremony. The brown circles represent the clay that dominates the area when the water dries up. The yellow and red dotting in the right hand corner is Kalingarrin, a native bush sugar found here.
