Size/Medium : 450 x 300mm: acrylic on canvas Painting
Lappi Lappi is important country for Linda’s family, and is located south of Balgo in the Great Sandy Desert. The outer, grid-like shape depicts a particular type of tree which is found here, the widjirki. The dot work in the centre of these grids are big soakwaters, or tjurrnu. These tjurrnu were formed in the Tjukurrpa (Dreamtime) by a big snake, which ate two boys who were brought here for law. The snake, came and wrapped itself around the two boys, swallowing them whole.
