Title : Ngantalarra
Size/Medium : 600 x 450mm: acrylic on canvas Painting
Sadie has painted some of her Tja Tja (Grandmother’s) country called Ngantalarra. In this painting Sadie has painted the soakwater Ngawirrti, a soak water never runs out of water. Surrounding the soakwater is an abundance of grasses and mangarri (bush tucker) including tjunta (bush onions), Tjukurru (bush passion fruit), kumpupatja (bush tomato), sandalwood and lily flowers that grow in the soak after rainy times. The red dots around the waterhole are ininti which are seeds used to make jewelry. Sadie has painted Napanangka’s (women’s skin group) hunting for food with their digging sticks.
