Size/Medium : 1219 x 610mm: acrylic on canvas Painting
Jane has painted her mother’s traditional country, and the place in which she grew up – Kunawarritji, or Well 33 on the the Canning Stock Route. As depicted by her flowing pink lines; tali, or sandhills, dominate the landscape. The main feature of the painting are the tjurnu, or soakwaters. Around these water sources mangarrayi (bush tucker) grows. Jane has pained kumppupatja (bush tomatos) and kantjilyi (raisins) with her yellow and green dot work.
Shown here are the tali (sand dunes) which dominate the landscape of the area, with the tjurrnu (soakwaters) in the centre. This is Jane’s grandmother’s Tjukurrpa (dreaming).
