Title : Tjukakarrinyu
Size/Medium : 1200 x 800mm: acrylic on canvas Painting
This painting depicts the story associated with Jimmy’s Tjukurrpa (dreaming), given to Jimmy by his father. This story is set in Jimmy’s traditional country of Tjukakarrinyu, east of Balgo in the Tanami Desert. The rectangles represent ceremony, specifically Jimmy’s experience of initiation when he was a young man. Jimmy was initiated on his country. The blackened areas in the middle of the 2 end rectangles represent the business that women cannot see. The patterning surrounding the central motifs depict the Tali (sandhills) around his country. They have 5 sons and 1 daughter and many many grandchildren. They paint at Warlayirti Art centre most days and Jimmy Tchooga is the Chairperson of Warlayirti Artists and Angie is a board member.
