Artist : LUCY LOOMOO
Title : Kalyulangku
Size/Medium : 1200*800mm: acrylic on canvas Painting
Lucy has depicted some of her country, south of Balgo and close to Punmu in the Great Sandy Desert. This country is called Kalyulangku. The central circle is a tjurrnu (soakwater), known as an inta, or ‘living water’ and always holds fresh water. Loomoo says this country is rich with bush tucker including kantjilyi (bush raisin) and walko (bush apple). The parallel lines in the painting indicate the tali (sand hills) that dominate the country.
